Employees of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division conducted raids to identify facts of non-contractual and non-metered consumption of electricity, as well as to take control reading of electricity meters in Yartsevsky and Roslavlsky districts of the Smolensk region.
The power engineers checked meters at 769 inhabitants of settlements in rural areas of Yartsevsky and Roslavlsky districts of the region. These areas were selected based on the analysis of sources of electric energy losses. During the check, the presence of unauthorized connections to the grid and interference in the operation of electricity meters was not detected. At the same time, the specialists of the branch issued 54 instructions on replacing faulty and non-conforming normative and technical documentation metering devices and correcting violations.
The power engineers often encounter illegal consumption of energy in conducting inspections of technical condition of energy facilities and commercial metering devices. Such facts are found more often in the private sector.
In total, in the service area of Yartsevsky and Roslavlsky Distribution Zones of the branch there are about 4,000 meters installed at legal entities and 30,000 residential customers. The work to identify the facts of non-contractual and non-metered consumption of electricity in these districts will continue.
Such raids are held monthly in different settlements of the region. Their tasks are to prevent theft of electricity, conduct explanatory work with consumers, clarify actual readings of meters to reduce losses in grids. Unauthorized connections to power grids cause significant losses to the grid company and can cause technological disruptions in the operation of the power system. It is worth remembering that the connection bypassing the statutory procedures is a crime and entails serious penalties towards the offender.
