IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division conducts systematic work to reduce losses in electric grids. One of the effective areas of this work are raids to curb non-metered and non-contractual consumption. For 8 months of 2017 the power company conducted 320 raids, revealed and presented for payment about 5.2 million kWh of stolen electricity.
Kurskenergo’s specialists discovered the next case of theft recently in Kastorensky district. The unscrupulous consumer was the owner of LLC "Agrocomplex" Olymsky". In order to supply a new grain dryer, he built his own power transmission line and unauthorizedly connected to the transformer substation of Kurskenergo. As a result of illegal actions of the entrepreneur, the damage caused to the branch amounted to more than 100 thousand rubles.
At present, the applicant’s materials on the fact of non-contractual electricity consumption have been sent to law enforcement bodies for making a decision within the framework of the current legislation.
The power company warns that unauthorized use of electricity entails both administrative and criminal liability, falling within the scope of part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust" (punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to five years).
It should be remembered that illegal connections can cause voltage drops and short circuits in the grid. At the same time, the performance of independent connections threatens serious injuries, even to death, to violators themselves.
Kurskenergo refers to residents with a request to report all cases of unauthorized connection to grids. This can be done by contacting any Distribution Zone that is part of the service area of Kurskenergo, or by calling the 24-hour toll-free direct line of power engineers on the phone at 8 800 50 50 115.
