Occupational safety of personnel is a priority task of the Kostroma power engineers of IDGC of Centre

The issues of preventing and reducing the level of occupational injuries, occupational safety, health and life of personnel are priority tasks for IDGC of Centre – Kostromaenergo division. 19.8 million rubles were spent on the implementation of measures to protect labour for 9 months of 2017.

Priority directions in the field of occupational safety are measures for the prevention of accidents, the purchase of personal protective equipment, tools and devices, measures to prevent diseases at work, measures to improve the working conditions of personnel. Also, the number of important areas in the field of occupational safety includes training of Kostromaenergo’s employees in safe methods of work, improving knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health, as well as testing safety knowledge with relevant personnel. First of all, the knowledge of the rules on labour protection in the operation of electrical installations, the rules of technical operation and fire safety is checked, and the skills of first aid in case of industrial accidents are also tested. In the first half of the year, electricians who were employed in the branch, were trained in the framework of training for a new position in their structural subdivisions, and pre-examination training was also conducted.

"Training includes theory - a course of lectures for staff and practice - classes at a training centre, equipped on the territory of an energy technical school. Typical power equipment is installed at the centre: overhead lines, transformer substations, ancillary equipment," says Alexander Komov, leading engineer for safety at IDGC of Centre – Kostromaenergo division. "The main milestones of our educational process: before the beginning of the repair campaign - in the spring, and before the preparation for the autumn-winter period. Each skill that our employee acquires in the training process, we monitor through a system of planned and unscheduled checks directly at the workplace."
