Tverenergo conducted an open doors day for students of Tver Polytechnic College

14.09.2017

A day of open doors for students of Tver Polytechnic College, timed to the Second All-Russian Festival of Energy Saving #VmesteYarche, took place in IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division.

Twenty students of Tver Polytechnic College of the first and third years of study under the specialty "Electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment" came to the energy company with a fact-finding excursion. The students were met by Evgeny Vrazov, deputy chief engineer of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre for production asset management and development, who noted that energy is one of the most dynamically developing industries. Without implementation of modern technologies in the power grid complex it is impossible to provide reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers. Therefore, it is so important for power engineers to receive new knowledge, to follow trends and to correspond to the spirit of the times. "Energy saving and energy efficient technologies are what’s on the world’s agenda today. Those who think that it is not profitable to save electricity is not right. On the contrary, we - electric grid companies - more than anyone are interested in careful and reasonable electricity consumption, the implementation of advanced technologies that can minimize technical losses in the transmission of electricity," he stressed.

The introductory speech was followed by a fascinating excursion to Tverenergo’s Grid Control Centre, the most modern and high-tech operating center in the Tver region, where all relevant information about the state of the regional electrical grids comes. After getting acquainted with the work of operators and getting an idea of how the GCC functions, the students went to the 110/10/10 Lebedevo substation. This power centre was constructed in 2014 to provide power supply for the Tver plant of excavators "Hitachi", as well as part of consumers of Kalininsky district.

At the end of the excursion the students thanked the specialists of Tverenergo for the fascinating tour, confirming that they are being taught from the student’s bench: the future is behind modern energy-efficient technologies. The young people were able to be convinced of the correctness of this idea after their visit to power facilities of Tverenergo. The power engineers, in turn, reminded the students of the cooperation agreement that was concluded between the educational institution and the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre and invited the students to pass production practice at power grid facilities of Tverenergo.
