Employees of Tverenergo found 3 million stolen kilowatt-hours

The on-site internal audit team of IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division, as part of a routine inspection aimed at revealing facts of non-metered, non-contractual electricity consumption, as well as unauthorized connection to power grids, discovered a significant theft of the resource. The volume of non-metered energy amounted to 2.9 million kW/h.

The fact of non-metered consumption of electricity was revealed by Tverenergo’s employees during the inspection of the consumer - the production centre located in the Nikulinsky rural settlement of Kalininsky district of the Tver region. In accordance with the established tariff, the amount of damage caused to the electric grid company amounted to more than 17 million rubles.

Specialists of the on-site internal audit team drew up an act on non-metered consumption of electrical energy by a legal entity using a resource for carrying out entrepreneurial activities. At the same time, within the framework of the current legislation, the damage caused by the consumer is regarded as particularly large and can be recognized as a criminal offense provided for under item "b" of part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In addition, according to Article 7.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, unauthorized connection or unauthorized (non-metered) use of electric energy entails the imposition of an administrative fine. For legal entities, its size is from one hundred to two hundred thousand rubles.

"All materials on this case were transferred by energy specialists to the retail company, as well as to law enforcement agencies to attract the consumer, who committed the theft of electricity, to the criminal liability established by law," stressed Denis Danilov, deputy director of security, head of the security office of IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division.
