Belgorod power engineers organized a lecture hall on electrical safety for trainers and trainees of DOSAAF driving schools

11.09.2017

Specialists of IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division conduct training seminars on the prevention of electric traumatism for masters and trainees of regional driving schools DOSAAF of Russia. The first classes already passed in Gubkin and Belgorod.

More than 65 trainers and future drivers of heavy equipment learned about the danger of violating the guard zones of the power transmission line with heavy vehicles while carrying out loading and unloading and construction work. Employees of Belgorodenergo talked about the main causes and risks of electric shock, about the "step voltage" and ways to get out of the danger zone. For greater clarity, the audience was shown the sad consequences of violation of electrical safety rules.

Vladimir Bakulin, Deputy Chief Engineer of Belgorodsky Distribution Zone, drew particular attention to the inadmissibility of carrying out loading and unloading, construction and any other works connected with the storage of materials and the development of soil near power lines. In addition, large-sized transport is strictly forbidden to move along a highway with a raised body - the driver may not notice the power line crossing the road and fall under voltage, the height of the car should not exceed 4.5 metres. In case of exceeding, in order to protect oneself from electric shock, it is necessary to turn to the nearest Distribution Zone of Belgorodenergo to raise the overhead line to the desired height.

If a specialized vehicle is finally in the area of electric shock, the driver must not leave the salon to save his life. It is necessary to remain calm (the driver is safe while in the car) and immediately contact power engineering specialists by calling the direct line of IDGC of Centre at 13-50 to de-energize the line. If a fire starts in the car or another threat to life occurs, the driver can jump out of the cab while simultaneously touching the ground with two legs, and then goose step, without taking his feet off the ground and from each other, leave the danger zone for 8-10 metres. During the jump, the simultaneous contact of the machine body and the ground should be avoided.

One can proceed to excavation works near cable power lines only after obtaining permission from the power company. At a distance of less than 1 metre from the cable route, the use of excavating equipment is not allowed, less than 5 m - shock and vibration mechanisms.

In conclusion, the staff of Belgorodenergo answered the questions of trainees and trainers and once again reminded that the majority of accidents at power facilities are caused by the victims themselves. One of the reasons is non-compliance with safety rules.

According to Director of the Belgorod driving school DOSAAF of Russia Alexander Apolevsky, such seminars are very useful. "This is vital. Every professional driver should know how to behave in the protected area of the power line and the electric shock zone. Instructors will try to intelligibly communicate the knowledge received from Belgorodenergo’s specialists to all trainees of our driving school," he stressed.

It should be noted that such classes are organized by power engineers regularly, the main purpose of such meetings is to prevent the death of people as a result of careless handling of electricity.
