Belgorodenergo closed the fourth season of students’ construction crews of the power grid complex

22.08.2017

Members of the fourth season of students’ construction crews of the power grid complex finished their work at IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division. Practical experience in mastering the future profession was given to 10 students of the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, who study in the field of "power engineering and electrical engineering".

During the working semester, which fell on the active phase of the repair program, the students actively helped the power engineers prepare power facilities for the upcoming maximum loads. Having received the second group on electrical safety, together with electricians of Belgorodsky Distribution Zone, the students took part in the planned check of 140 kilometres of overhead lines and 280 package transformer substations, overall diagnostics of 30 transformer substations. During the overhaul, they painted 10 package transformer substations in the settlements of Maisky, Novaya Derevnya, Nechaevka, in the village of Solokhi, and updated operator’s names on poles of 0.4-10 kV overhead lines with a length of 23 km. To supply electricity to new customers, more than 4.3 km of overhead and cable power lines were constructed in Belgorodsky district together with a crew for implementation of value-added services, and they constructed a modern pole-mounted transformer substation in the village of Belomestnoye. A lot of physical effort was required to make 600 metres of trenches for cable laying, as well as for trench work, that is, for inspection of a hundred metres of cable routes. Thanks to the received skills, the students were able to successfully cope with the drawing of 92 power supply diagrams and 100 diagrams of binding cable lines to the terrain.

As a result, for a month and a half of hard work the members of the students’ construction crew "Phase" mastered many different activities that are present in the daily work of power engineers, learned to cope with tasks related to both physical and mental labour. Speaking about the results of the summer semester, one of the mentors of the crew, the senior master of Belgorodsky Distribution Zone, Nikolay Alpatov, noted the students’ great desire to get to know all aspects of the work of power engineers and the good theoretical preparation of future colleagues.

The students, in turn, were pleased with the fact that they had an opportunity to work at real production. The member of the student’s construction crew, Sergey Distel, stressed: "Thanks to the working semester, I was able not only to apply the knowledge gained in the course of training at the institute in practice, but also to broaden my horizons in the chosen specialty, to get practical advice and to learn the skills and experience of people working in this field for years. The work in the construction crew fully met all my expectations from the future profession." The opinion of the colleague was also supported by Olga Turovnik: "The construction crew gave an invaluable experience, which is sure to come in handy in the future. Working at Belgorodsky Distribution Zone helped me understand that the specialty that I chose is extremely important for the future of the whole region and for the everyday life of people."

In addition to mastering the profession, the students were engaged in creative work. In the near future, they will have to send their creative projects to the jury of IDGC of Centre.
