10.08.2017

A group of students of the construction crew of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division is currently involved in laying a 6 kV cable (a total of about 600 metres). The work is carried out within the framework of the grid connection contract of a filling station of LLC "Shell" in Marshal Eremenko Street in Smolensk. Ten students from among the most experienced, led by the commander of the construction crew Oleg Andreenkov, are taking part in the work. All of them have been working in the students’ construction crew for a number of years. The work is being carried out under the strict supervision of masters from the contracting company.

In addition, some students are working directly in crews for operation of cable lines in Smolensk City Distribution Zone of the branch. They take part in the repair of damaged cable lines, perform earthworks and replace cable sections. All these types of work are done without lifting to the height with strict observance of the rules of labour protection and safety precautions.

"Working in the crew, we saw what was formerly studied only in theory: rules of excavation, excavation routes for cables, installation of heat shrinkable couplings, fault location. Specialists, employees of the company share with us the basics of the profession. In the process of work they try to tell as much as possible and show us, giving each question a clear and exhaustive answer," said a construction crew member Dmitry Vakulov.

Totally, the student’s construction crew of Smolenskenergo consists of 31 students of the branch of National Research University "MPEI" in Smolensk, who perform various types of work. The work shift will last until mid-August, and after its completion, the best students will be included in the staff reserve of the branch.
