Employees of Novoderevenkovsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division held an electrical safety class in the social rehabilitation centre for minors "Azimut" in the settlement of Mikhailovka of the Orel region. The event was organized as part of the company’s program for the prevention of children’s electric injuries.
Children from disadvantaged families are rehabilitated in "Azimut". Because of the lack of proper control by adults, this category of children is at risk, so the knowledge of life safety, including the part of dealing with electricity, is especially necessary for them.
Orelenergo’s specialists told the participants about the basic rules of electrical safety, explained why they must not play near power lines and transformer substations, showed and explained the importance of warning signs that are installed on power facilities. In addition, they demonstrated to them the equipment of the electrician: helmets, protective suits, dielectric gloves and boots. The children watched themed cartoons and received memos that will help them consolidate the knowledge they gained.
At the end of the lesson, the organizers conducted a survey, during which they checked how the children learned new useful information and answered their questions.
Orelenergo conducts electrical safety classes for children and teenagers regularly. Over two months of the summer, the power engineers held more than eighty such events, in August they plan to organize another thirty classes.
