Smolenskenergo fulfilled the plan to clear and expand ROWs in the first half of 2017

In the first half of 2017 IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division carried out measures to clear and expand ROWs of overhead lines in the territory of more than 739.54 hectares. The work on clearing and expanding the ROWs of overhead lines is a mandatory direction of the production program. This work is carried out annually in preparation for the autumn-winter period and with the aim of increasing the reliability of electric grids.

From January to June Smolensk power engineers cleared 574.04 ha of 6-110 kV overhead lines from tree and shrub vegetation. The expansion of the ROWs is done in the volume of 165.50 hectares. All measures to clear and expand the ROWs of power lines were carried out in strict accordance with regulatory rules and legal requirements. The bulk of the clearing falls, as a rule, on July, August and September, so most of the work is still ahead.

It is assumed that following the results of the work the likelihood of technological breakdown in the operation of power equipment due to the touch of branches of wires and the fall of trees growing near electrical installations and power lines will significantly reduce during winter operations in unfavourable weather conditions.
