Smolenskenergo’s students’ construction crew started work in subdivisions of the branch

25.07.2017

The largest students’ construction crew in IDGC of Centre "Energet", consisting of 31 people, is currently actively working in various structural subdivisions of Smolenskenergo. After a long training, successful passing of exams on safety and obtaining all necessary permits, the students started to work. As in the past year, the crew is divided into groups that operate at various facilities of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division.

Last year, as an experiment the construction crew included girls who had proven themselves, working as technicians in various subdivisions of the branch. This year, the experience of attracting students to work with documentation was not only continued, but also expanded. Seven girls are currently working in the office of distribution networks, office of interactions with customers, production and technical group. In the field of their activities for a moth and a half in the summer there is processing of requests of consumers, work with technical documentation, entry of documents into electronic databases and much more. The students work under the guidance of experienced mentors.

The management of Smolenskenergo is convinced of the need to ensure the practical focus of the training of students in energy specialties, their professional guidance to work in the power grid complex, and the revival of the traditions of labour education for young people. "Any career, as a rule, begins with practice. The students’ construction crew is an invaluable experience and excellent practice, during which the students will learn about the work of electric grid facilities of the region, visit power facilities, get acquainted with necessary documentation, and ask questions of interest to relevant specialists of the branch," commented the head of the HR office of Smolenskenergo Alla Korolkova.

The students’ construction crew movement helps in dealing with personnel issues, acquisition of professional skills, as well as improving the financial situation of students. It is worth noting that when hiring, priority is given to graduates with experience in construction crews. As a result of the last three seasons, ten former construction students were already employed by the branch after receiving their higher education, who currently work in various positions in Distribution Zones and technical services of Smolenskenergo.
