Belgorodenergo’s specialists held an electrical safety class "Hello, help Gosha!" in a children’s camp

21.07.2017

The event participants were 80 children, having a rest in the sports and recreation centre "Orlenok" in the city of Gubkin. Employees of IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division told the children why it is not allowed to run kites and fish near power lines, what can a selfie turn around power lines and substations, and why it is dangerous to approach broken wires.

The theory was fixed in practice. Together with the power engineers members of students’ construction crews worked out goose step, learned how to safely install light bulbs, the speed was measured while trying to put on overalls of the electrician and acted as rescuers. In a game form they were to not only call special services on the scene, but also to release the victim who was exposed to the electric current.

"We were offered to help the dummy Gosha," said Zhenya Trufanova, a pupil of secondary school No. 17 in Gubkin. "He needed to be freed from the ragged wire." I remember everything that needs to be done in such cases. First of all, call 13-50, tell them that the person has electric shock. Then we put rubber shoes and gloves on, so that the current could not hit us, with the help of an ordinary wooden stick we tried to throw off the wire from Gosha and pull the dummy aside."

Lisa Obedkova from the 2nd Gubkin school did not know before the class that it is dangerous not only to touch, but also to come near broken wires. "It turns out that around this wire on the ground a dangerous field forms, which is called the zone of step voltage. I learned how to get out of it correctly with a goose step. It is necessary to go very slowly, putting the heel to the toe. It is not easy, because you must not take your legs off the ground," the girl shared.

"The lesson on electrical safety came at an opportune moment," stressed Viktoria Tolatyuk, Deputy Director for educational work at Orlenok. "We already have the third specialized shift. We dedicated it to professions, and today we have designated it as an electrician’s day. The game programs prepared by Belgorodenergo’s specialists help our children remember these important rules and expand their knowledge on the topic."

The lesson on electrical safety in Orlenok is one of many that the power engineering specialists have planned this summer in children’s educational and recreational facilities of the region. In total, within a year, Belgorodenergo’s engineers will visit dozens of schools and kindergartens, where they will conduct about 400 useful lessons.
