Children of Smolensk schools learned about the dangers of electricity

05.07.2017

The school year ended and specialists of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division summed up the awareness-raising work in January-May 2017. During this period, the power engineers conducted 14 thematic lessons on electrical safety in schools in Smolensk and 50 more classes in schools of the region. The schoolchildren were reminded of the need for careful handling of electrical appliances, because such familiar electric current can carry a mortal threat, without forgiving negligent attitude to the rules of electrical safety. In the lessons, special attention was paid to the topic of prohibiting third-party access to the territory of energy facilities, which should not be a place for games and entertainment.

For example, the lesson in the 25th school, held by Alexander Kunevich, was a success. As part of the lesson, the schoolchildren were given an excursion to an energy facility located on the school grounds. During the excursion in an accessible and informative manner the children were explained the rules of handling electric current and answered many questions of the children: "What if I saw a broken wire?", "What can and cannot be done near high-voltage lines?", "What dangers does electricity have?" etc. And in the classes in the schools of the region the children were able not only to learn about the rules of electrical safety, but also to get acquainted with the power engineering profession - to try on the uniform of an electrician, to hold in their hands tools and adaptations for safety of work and elimination of faults on the line, and also to ask the power engineers about their work, and in what educational institutions one can receive an energy specialty. Similar lessons were held at the Korobetsky school, in the Elnensky district school, in the secondary school in the village of Lobovo, Velizh district, in the Kanyutino school in Kholm-Zhirkovsky district.

At the conclusion of classes, all children are traditionally given colouring books, timetables or bookmarks on the topic of electrical safety, using which each pupil can independently consolidate information on the safety rules related to electricity. Teachers and head teachers of schools are given colourful thematic posters, quizzes and memos with which they can conduct the same lessons for other pupils of their school.

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division are ready to conduct electrical safety events in educational institutions or summer recreation camps in the Smolensk region. To organize a lesson, it is enough to contact the public relations department of the branch by phone 8 (4812) 42-95-62.
