Smolenskenergo awarded winners of the crossword contest "We are friends with electricity"

The Smolensk branch of IDGC of Centre summed up the contest of crosswords "We are friends with electricity" among schoolchildren of the Smolensk region, which was announced on 15 April 2017. Within a month pupils of grades 5-10 sent their creative works on two topics - "Energy Efficiency" and "Electrical Safety".

The purpose of the competition was to intensify the work on the prevention of electric injuries among pupils of educational institutions of various types and to involve children in an energy-saving lifestyle, to increase the culture of energy consumption, to take care of energy resources and the energy of the future as a whole.

As a result of the contest, the creative work of the seventh-grade pupil of Gagarin school No. 1 by Alina Sedova won the nomination "Energy Saving". The second and third place was given to the brothers Lev and Foma Shtin-Solomin from the 5th and 7th grades of school No. 5 in Yartsevo. The guys are regular participants of creative competitions related to energy. The love for the industry was instilled in them by their father - an electrician of a first responding mobile crew of Yartsevsky Distribution Zone of Smolenskenergo Roman Shtin-Solomin.

In the category "Electrical Safety" the best knowledge on this topic and the creative approach to drawing up a crossword in the opinion of the commission was shown by Mikhail Shpiller, a pupil of the 5th grade of school No. 3 in Yartsevo. The second place was taken by the crossword of Ekaterina Kovaleva from Demidov, the third - by Foma Shtin-Solomin.

All participants received diplomas, and prize-winners were awarded with memorable gifts. In each of the crossword puzzles submitted to the contest, the commission noted diligence and an original approach. All participants of the contest plunged into the topics and could develop them without a mistake.

The contest became part of a large-scale and purposeful work of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division, aimed at the prevention of children’s electric injuries and the increase of the energy consumption culture among schoolchildren. Caring for the younger generation and raising the level of knowledge of the rules of electrical safety and energy saving in everyday life for power engineers is a task of special social significance. Summing up the contest is timed to 1 June – Children’s Day.
