Kurskenergo in the first quarter saved about 7 million kWh due to the implementation of energy-saving measures

15.05.2017

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division summed up the implementation of the Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Program in the first quarter of 2017. The overall effect of implementing energy-saving measures was 6.77 million kWh, which already exceeds the expected results of 2017 (6.25 million kWh).

564 thousand kWh were saved due to technical measures: switching off transformers in low load modes in substations with two or more transformers, replacing wires for a larger section on overloaded power lines and replacing wire of taps of overhead lines in residential houses with self-supporting insulated wire. Good results were also achieved during the work to identify facts of non-metered energy consumption. In the first quarter, Kurskenergo’s specialists identified 128 facts of non-metered electric energy consumption of 3.9 million kWh, which increased the revenue of the branch from electricity transmission services by approximately 11.3 million rubles, and 16 facts of non-contractual electricity consumption of 2.2 mln kWh. For each of the cases, claims and lawsuits are being conducted.

Organizational arrangements also brought some tangible effect. Following the results of the first quarter, Kurskenergo achieved a reduction of 104,000 kWh, or 2% of the planned electricity consumption for household needs. Compared with the actual value of the same period last year, the decrease was 213 thousand kWh, or 4%. In addition, in the first quarter the branch began work on replacing incandescent lamps with energy-saving light-emitting diodes. To date, 317 lamps have been replaced, the expected annual effect from this work will be 48 thousand kWh.

The goal of implementing the Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Program of Kurskenergo is to reduce costs in the transmission of electricity to consumers, decrease electricity consumption for production and economic needs, which will eventually improve the energy and operational efficiency of the company.
