On the initiative of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division, at the end of April 2017, a tour to Dukhovschinsky Distribution Zone of the branch was conducted for pupils of grades 9-11 of Prechistinskaya Secondary School of Dukhovschinsky district of the Smolensk region.
The event started from the electrical safety class in a specially equipped safety classroom. The pupils were told about the rules of behaviour near power installations, the dangers of electric shock, reminded of the need to be cautious in handling household appliances. Thematic videos helped consolidate this knowledge. The head of the operational and technological group of the Distribution Zone Alexander Kazakov conducted a tour, where he told how the power grid complex of the district is managed. Also, the high school pupils learned what kind of education is necessary to work in the industry.
"We conduct tours to the Distribution Zone and electrical safety classes for schoolchildren every year. We hope that they are interesting and useful for pupils," commented the chief of Dukhovschinsky Distribution Zone Yury Yurchenkov. "Cooperation with local educational institutions is an important part in the work of power engineers not only in terms of career-oriented talks with children, but also in preventing children’s electric injuries."
