Kurskenergo’s employees honoured the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War

IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division solemnly celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to the tradition, on 9 May, employees of the enterprise with children, veterans of the branch laid flowers to the Eternal Flame and the monument of Hero of the Soviet Union Stepan Perekalsky at the Memorial Complex "In Memory of the Fallen in the Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945" in Kursk.

And then, within the framework of the All-Russian action "Immortal Regiment", along with tens of thousands of residents of Kursk, they carried portraits of their relatives, front-line soldiers, along the streets of the regional centre.

And on the eve of the holiday, Kurskenergo’s employees took part in a number of socially significant events. One of the key among them was the trip of a large group of veterans of the enterprise, employees of the branch - participants in military operations, as well as representatives of the Youth Council, in places of military glory. At the memorial complex "Kursk Bulge", erected in memory of one of the most important battles of the Great Patriotic War, the power engineers laid flowers to the Eternal Flame. After that they visited the excursion in the museum "Command Post of the Central Front" in the town of Svoboda in Zolotukhinsky district. The trip was organized by the leadership, the trade union committee and the Veterans’ Board of Kurskenergo.

Children of the branch’s employees also took an active part in the pre-holiday activities. As part of the military-patriotic project of IDGC of Centre "I remember, I’m proud", they wrote letters to the great-grandfathers-heroes, combined them with white cranes and, tying them to balloons, released into the sky at the memorial complex "Kursk Bulge".

On the eve of 9 May, the power engineers brought to order military graves and memorials, among which, in particular, the monument to the legendary pilot, thrice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub in Medvensky district and the monument to the Unknown Hero in Solntsevsky district. And the employees of Ponyrovsky Distribution Zone of Kurskenergo in the framework of the program "Green Distribution Zone", launched in April in all branches of IDGC of Centre in cooperation with representatives of local public organizations, planted birch and arborvitae trees on the Power Engineers’ Alley and the Heroes’ Alley in the settlement of Ponyri on the northern facet of the Kursk bulge. Both the alleys were laid earlier in the framework of IDGC of Centre’s projects "Save the energy of the forest" and "The history of one feat".

"Care for veterans and military graves has become a good tradition for the team of Kurskenergo. It is our duty to those who saved the world from fascism, and after the war restored the destroyed national economy of the country," stressed Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division director.
