Smolenskenergo summed up the operation through the autumn-winter peak load of 2016-2017

24.04.2017

Traditionally, in the spring, at the end of the most difficult period for the power industry - the autumn-winter maximum load, IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division summarizes the work done in the winter.

Stable operation of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division during the autumn-winter operation period of 2016-2017 was provided due to the availability of power equipment and staff of electric grids to the maximum loads.

Timely and high-quality execution of the repair program contributed to the successful passage of the autumn-winter period. The total cost of repair work amounted to 192.46 million rubles. As a result of the repair program, Smolenskenergo’s specialists repaired 720 km of 35-110 kV power lines in 2016, 27 substations of 35-110 kV were repaired comprehensively, 1,668.37 km of 0.4-10 kV lines and 758 transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV were repaired.

During the implementation of the repair program particular attention was paid to clearing and expanding ROWs from woody and shrubby vegetation within the framework of maintenance operations. Clearing of ROWs of overhead lines of 6-110 kV from woody-shrub vegetation within the framework of repair and maintenance works in 2016 the branch carried out in the volume of 1,289.1 ha. 36.49 million rubles were allocated for the implementation of these works. The annual plan for the ROW expansion of 6-110 kV overhead lines was completed in full and amounted to 560 hectares. All these measures significantly reduce the risk of falling trees and branches onto wires in spans of power lines, thereby decreasing the likelihood of damage to overhead lines. These activities were carried out in strict accordance with regulatory rules and legal requirements.

Including due to the timely implementation of the repair program, in October 2016 the branch received its certificate of readiness for work in the autumn-winter period.

The branch also took special measures for labour protection and work with personnel: education, briefings and training taking into account the characteristics of work in emergency situations in low temperature conditions, equipping crews with equipment, provision of workers with gear, providing protection equipment. The power engineers conducted joint exercises in the liquidation of emergency situations in electric grids with civil defense and emergency authorities and local self-government bodies.

The branch was fully provided with an emergency reserve of equipment, spare parts and materials, special equipment, machinery and mechanisms for carrying out first responding and restoration work during this period.

All these activities provided reliable power supply to the Smolensk region, contributed to the successful passage of the autumn-winter operation period and allowed to avoid major emergency situations.

Enhancing the reliability of electricity supply to consumers, increasing the life of equipment and reducing the cost of planned work, the branch achieves with the help of modern methods of organization and application of modern technologies, as well as competent work planning.

"The smooth passage of the autumn-winter operation period was facilitated by the preparation of all branch structures," stressed Oleg Shirokov, deputy chief engineer for production assets management and development of Smolenskenergo. "The management monitored the quality and compliance with the deadlines for repair work. The staff was ready to work during low temperatures, trained and equipped with special clothing and protective equipment. The branch is provided with an emergency reserve of equipment, specialized vehicles for carrying out first responding and restoration operations during low temperatures and eliminating all failures as soon as possible."

In addition to performing work in the Smolensk region, Smolenskenergo’s crews at the end of 2016 assisted colleagues in emergency repair work in the Moscow, Kaluga, Tver and Rostov regions.
