18.04.2017

Employees of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division are preparing for the Victory Day celebrations. On the eve of the memorable date, the power engineers implement a number of historical, patriotic and social projects in the region.

The largest of them is IDGC of Centre’s project "I Remember, I’m Proud", whose goal is to bring up a sense of pride in the younger generation for their history, their people and their Motherland. Within the framework of it, children of Kurskenergo’s employees, students of grades 1-6, wrote letters of gratitude to the great-grandfathers-winners, and then made them cranes as a symbol of peace and in memory of all those who died during the Great Patriotic War. The final part of the event was held at the memorial complex "Kursk Bulge" near the monument to the Unknown Soldier. Attaching paper birds to balloons, the children released them into the sky under the song "Cranes", which was performed by an employee of Kurskenergo, an electrician for repair of switchgear equipment Dmitry Pobelenko.

Representatives of the Veterans’ Board, the Youth Council, the Trade Union Committee of Kurskenergo, public organizations of Ponyrovsky district of the Kursk region planted birch trees in the village of Ponyri - in the northern facet of the Kursk Bulge on the "Power Engineers’ Alley" at the entrance to the village of Ponyri - the site of fierce battles in 1943 and arborvitae trees at the "Heroes’ Alley". The alleys were laid earlier in the framework of IDGC of Centre’s projects "Let’s save the energy of the forest" and "The history of one feat".

The subject of concern for the power engineers are the existing monuments. In Medvensky district employees of Kurskenergo on the eve of Victory Day will clean up the monument to the legendary pilot, thrice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub. The monument is installed on the site of the military airfield of the 240th fighter regiment. In Solntsevsky district they will improve the monument to the "Unknown Hero", the territory adjacent to the monument will be cleaned, metal structures will be painted with fresh paint. In total, for the holiday in the places where there were battles, the employees of the branch will accomplish the improvement and will put in order more than 30 burial places of Soviet soldiers.

"We are infinitely grateful to the veterans, those who did not return from the war, for their deed and with concrete actions we want to prove to the generation of winners that we remember, we honour and appreciate their contribution to the Victory," stressed IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director Alexander Rudnevsky.
