Representatives of Voronezhenergo visited Novovoronezh NPP with an introductory tour

14.04.2017

Representatives of the regional grid company IDGC of Centre – Voronezhenergo division visited the Novovoronezh NPP within a technical tour. They visited innovative power unit No. 1 of NV NPP-2, which was put into commercial operation on 27 February this year. The guests visited the new central control room of the nuclear power plant, inspected the SF6 insulated switchgear and control gear (GIS-220), visited the engine room, in which a high-speed turbine with a capacity of 1200 MW is installed.

For mass media representatives, who also came to the Novovoronezh NPP, a press-conference was held with the participation of Anatoly Fedorov, Chief Engineer of the Novovoronezh NPP. Speaking about the work of the most powerful generating company in the Voronezh region, he said: "Novovoronezh NPP is one of the largest electricity suppliers in the Central Black Earth Region. The installed capacity of power unit No. 1 of NV NPP-2 after putting it into commercial operation is 2,612.4 MW. Through high-voltage switchgears of NV NPP, power lines connect the power systems of the Centre and the South of Russia."

He also noted that during the construction of new NV NPP power units for the first time 220/500kV distribution switchgears and SF6 insulated current leads were used at distribution substations of Rosenergoatom Concern instead of traditionally used outdoor distribution devices and flexible buses of power transmission circuit equipment.

"The main advantages of gas-insulated switchgear assemblies are that they are more compact, reliable, safe to maintain and resistant to environmental influences, since there are no open live parts in the switchgear. Electromagnetic compatibility is an important advantage of electrical conductors in terms of ecology, in particular, when transmitting large capacities. The conductors create a significantly smaller electromagnetic disturbance in the environment."

Anatoly Fedorov also said that for the first time at the nuclear power plants of the Concern a modern electronic central control panel (CCP) was put into operation to control and manage the equipment for power output of NV NPP. This is a large wall electronic mnemonic diagram, through which the dispatching service of NV NPPs monitors the situation with the generation of electricity at all power units of the nuclear power plant around the clock, and controls its transmission to the unified energy system of the country. In real time, the mimic diagram shows the state of the equipment and changes in all operating parameters.
