Kurskenergo held an environmental event to collect used batteries

IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division, within the framework of the Year of Ecology, announced in Russia, held an event to collect used batteries. The initiator of its holding was the Youth Council of the branch.

In total, about 1,000 batteries were collected in the executive office and Distribution Zones of Kurskenergo, about a quarter of them were collected by employees of Belovsky Distribution Zone. After the event, all the batteries were carefully packed and taken out for further disposal to a specialized store in the city of Kursk.

"We consider it very important to hold such environmental events. One incorrectly utilized battery pollutes 20 square metres of soil or 400 litres of water. The branch’s staff responded with great enthusiasm to the opportunity to contribute to the environmental clean-up," stressed Alexander Taratin, Chairman of the Youth Council, the head of the department of development and issue of technical conditions of Kurskenergo.
