Lipetskenergo’s staff practiced the skills of organizing emergency recovery work in the training ground conditions

28.03.2017

In order to prepare for mass repair and preventive work, training sessions were conducted in IDGC of Centre – Lipetskenergo division in all 18 Distribution Zones on the topic: "Organization of emergency recovery work at night".

During the annual repair campaign, the level of production risks is significantly increased. In this regard, thorough training of personnel is one of the most important areas of work on labour protection and safety.

Operating and mobile crews honed their skills in organizing the emergency recovery work in various scenarios in the conditions of the training ground site. Participants in the training were required to carry out emergency drills in the dark, with limiting time periods and unstable radio communication.

One of the variants of the development of events assumed the elimination of consequences of the fall of a pole as a result of its damage by a vehicle. In another scenario, the power engineers were to eliminate consequences of damage to a pole with ice drift during a flood. In all cases, specialists of the Distribution Zones were also tasked to connect a backup power source to organize the supply of electricity to socially significant consumers during the elimination of damages.

As part of the training of Lipetskenergo’s personnel, the supervisory bodies, including chiefs of the Distribution Zones and heads of the operating and technological groups, assessed the observance of occupational safety rules when preparing crews for the replacement of insulators on the pole, eliminating wire breaks in the span of poles and when replacing high-voltage fuses in a power transformer.

"Emergency response drills are part of a set of measures to prepare for the season of massive repair work. They allow to assess the skills of staff when it is necessary to make quick decisions, increase the level of responsibility in terms of labour protection and safety and train for all unforeseen circumstances. We knowingly complicate the tasks facing our employees during training, as it is known, train hard, fight easy," commented Deputy Chief Engineer of Lipetskenergo for operating - technological and situational management - head of the Grid Control Centre Andrey Arapov.
