Smolenskenergo’s specialists told preschoolers about electrical safety

23.03.2017

In the spring, employees of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division conducted an unusual electrical safety class in kindergarten No. 74 "The Wishing Flower" in the city of Smolensk. The power engineers in a game form told children from the middle group about the rules for safe handling of electricity in everyday life and in the street, introduced special signs to warn of the danger, gave examples of the correct and improper use of electrical appliances.

What careless behaviour near power facilities can lead to, what electric shock is dangerous about - the answers to these questions should be known to everyone, and from an early age. A leading engineer of the industrial safety and production control office Alexander Kunevich said that in no case one should do near power lines and substations: to launch a kite, fish, penetrate the substation, even if the ball flew there. As a souvenir, the children received books with verses and riddles as a gift, explaining in what situations electrical equipment could pose a threat to human health and life. In conclusion, fixing the knowledge gained, the children gladly solved the riddles about electricity and answered the guests’ questions.

According to the senior teacher of the kindergarten Irina Panasova, such meetings of the energy company’s specialists with the children’s audience are very interesting. "We, of course, introduce children to the rules of electrical safety, but this form, which today the power engineers use, is much more interesting. I am sure that the children, who attended the class today, learned the rules of behaviour near power facilities and will never get into dangerous situations," she commented.

The electrical safety class in the kindergarten "The Wishing Flower" became the second similar event for preschool children held by Smolenskenergo. For the first time the power company organized such an event for kids from another kindergarten in Smolensk in the summer of 2016.
