IDGC of Centre – Tambovenergo division has completed the preparation for the operation through the flood period. The branch has identified lists of facilities located in high-risk areas during the spring flood to plan, coordinate and monitor the implementation of anti-flood measures, the central flood commission has been set up under the leadership of First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer Igor Polyakov.
In accordance with the comprehensive preparation plan, a total of more than 40 events were held by the power company to ensure the successful operation through the flood period. Availability of the emergency stock of materials and equipment, reserve sources of power supply, mobile pumps, waterborne vehicles, special equipment and mechanisms, operating and backup communication and notification channels. Inspections of transitions of overhead power lines through rivers were conducted. In the floodplains of the rivers near poles, which are subject to flooding and washout, sticks for measuring the maximum water level were renewed or additionally installed, the protection of pole bases from ice drift was checked. Schemes of delivery to supposed flood zones of vehicles, materials and equipment in the event of liquidation of possible damage to equipment of substations and overhead power lines were determined.
To obtain timely forecasts of the flood situation in the region, Tambovenergo has effectively interacted with the hydrometeorological service, local and regional authorities and General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tambov region.
