Belgorodenergo: the situation with the spring flood – under control

IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division is preparing for operation through the flood period. According to forecasts of Roshydromet, this year it will begin on 15 March, the maximum intensity will be on the week from the 20th to the 25th day. At the same time, the rise in water level in rivers and reservoirs in the region is expected to be within the average annual norm – up to 0.8 metres.

There are 387 power facilities in the area of ​​possible flooding in the Belgorod region. These are transformer substations and overhead line poles along ponds, rivers and other water bodies. All of them are equipped with benchmarks to measure the water level, protected from ice and regularly inspected by operating and maintenance crews for foundation damage. Power lines providing transmission of power plants and energy supply of socially significant facilities are under special control. To ensure their reliable operation flood zones have been monitored, backup circuits to power consumer and routes movement and deployment of diesel generators have been developed taking into account possible changes in river beds.

In addition, the staff of all structural units tested performance of boats, stationary and mobile pumps and other special vehicles, equipment and machinery, cleared the snow from the blind area of ​​building parts of closed transforming and distribution substations, undertook control of drainage systems and seals in places of passage of cables, pipes, ventilation ducts through wall structures. The question of providing first aid to victims in the water and the order of actions in the flood zone was considered at scheduled and unscheduled safety briefings.

Changes in the flood situation are being monitored around the clock. Operational information immediately goes to the Grid Control Centre of the Belgorodenergo branch and the Operating and Situational Centre of IDGC of Centre. If necessary, the branch is ready to quickly take necessary measures to eliminate consequences of emergency situations.
