Tverenergo takes the fight against corruption to a new level

27.01.2017

This week the Udomelsky interdistrict investigation department of the Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee in the Tver region initiated a criminal case against the chief of Udomelsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division, who is suspected of receiving bribe. The chief took money from a local resident in gratitude for services rendered. The corruption fact was identified as a result of internal corporate investigations.

13 thousand rubles - this sum now the former chief of Udomelsky Distribution Zone defined for a resident of the district as payment for the installation of a power line pole on the land plot. The work was carried out at the end of December last year by a crew of power engineers, who considered that they performed routine grid connection. Meanwhile, according to investigators, the woman did not address officially to the territorial department of marketing and customer interaction, which means that the installation of the pole was carried out without the appropriate sanctions: permission to use materials from the warehouse of Udomelsky Distribution Zone, permission for the allocation of people and vehicles to perform the work. Cash transfer to the official was scheduled by the parties in January.

That was when the chief of the Distribution Zone was arrested red-handed by members of the office of economic security and anti-corruption of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Tver region. In the presence of law enforcement officers the chief fully admitted his involvement in the deed and signed the report with full confession. The investigation and trial will determine his fate.

It is worth noting that the detention of the head of a subdivision - part of larger work on the detection and prevention of corruption, pursued by the security service of Tverenergo. "The anti-corruption campaign in the branch grows, all, without exception, bribery facts will be stopped, regardless of a post", stressed Vadim Yurchenko, Acting Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division director.

In 2015, IDGC of Centre, proving its intolerance to abuse in the electric grid industry, as well as manifestations of corruption within the company, joined the Anti-Corruption Charter of the Russian business. Thus, the organization declared its readiness to implement a number of measures for combating and preventing corruption and has already confirmed its intentions with real actions.
