In 2017 Smolenskenergo plans to conduct more than a hundred lessons on electrical safety

20.01.2017

113 lessons on electrical are scheduled to be conducted by specialists of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division in schools, boarding schools, summer camps, nursery schools and on school grounds of the Smolensk region in 2017. As a rule, even more than a dozen classes are held outside the plan at the request of school teachers, as lessons for children and teenagers have become an expected element of interesting and educational programs in the region. Smolensk power engineers have held electrical safety classes in educational institutions for seven years already.

In 2016 more than 5 thousand young inhabitants of the Smolensk region listened to similar lectures on prevention of electric injuries. In total 126 lessons were organized by the power engineers for them. Including during the summer months the power engineers held 20 thematic sessions, which were attended by more than a thousand school-age children, resting in country summer holiday camps or on school grounds.

At the electrical safety classes Smolenskenergo’s employees tell children how to behave near substations, power lines, show major signs warning of the danger. The task of the power engineers is to remind the children that it is impossible to imagine modern life without electricity, but it is dangerous, so you need to follow the rules of behavior near power facilities. During the course the schoolchildren of preteen age study and repeat the basic rules of safe handling of electrical household appliances and behaviour near power supply facilities. For high school pupils and students of technical schools and colleges excursions to energy facilities were organized, where in addition to lectures, the children were told about the importance of the power engineering trade. As part of the practical tasks the students practiced skills in first aid with the robot simulator "Gosha".

For making stands on electrical safety colourful posters with a reminder on the basic rules of behaviour near power facilities are given to teachers and educators. In addition to classes, the power engineers twice a year organize broadcasting of social videos, telling about the rules of safe behaviour of children near power facilities, on local television channels.

IDGC of Centre’s experts hope that the practice of training on electrical safety could become binding on the school curriculum in the same way as the training is mandatory for all employees of organizations in accordance with applicable legal requirements for health and safety. In the meantime, the experts of the branch are ready to conduct electrical safety classes in educational institutions and children’s holiday camps of the Smolensk region. For a lesson organization it is enough to contact the public relations department of the branch by phone 8 (4812) 42-95-62. Lessons are free of charge and only on weekdays.
