Smolenskenergo develops professional skills of its staff

In 2016 709 employees (200 managers, 168 specialists, 341 workers) of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division had their education, training and retraining under various forms and directions. The total costs of staff training amounted to 5.855 million rubles.

The whole system of organizing staff training of the branch in the past year was aimed at maintaining a high professional level of employees, creation of conditions for their career and personal growth. The main areas of study were training and retraining of the personnel in a specialized or related work profession, as well as retraining of the staff of the branch.

In 2016, managers and specialists of Smolenskenergo had a chance to be retrained to perform certain types of work, to be nominated to the personnel reserve, as well as retraining. All the staff was provided with occupational training and certification on eligibility to perform specific types of work, including operation and work performance at facilities supervised by the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Oversight of Russia (RTN), testing and measurement, transportation and release of motor vehicles on route, work permit as an instructing resuscitator, training staff with methods and techniques of first aid in case of accidents, and more.

An important issue in the field of professional training and refresher training is education of electrical professionals. 103 employees of the branch had their occupational retraining and advanced training at the branch "NRU "MPEI" in the city of Smolensk, at the St. Petersburg Energy Institute, Ivanovo State Power Engineering University and other specialized educational establishments.

Safety training was no less important topic in 2016: 49 people improved their skills with the test of knowledge on safety in the operation of electrical installations, another 45 employees were trained and certified for the right to work with hazardous waste and 41 employees - under the rules of fire safety.

Special attention in training to operate through the autumn-winter period was paid to occupational training of personnel of the service of mechanization and transportation. In particular, 18 drivers were trained in methods of defensive driving, three were trained and certified for work permit as a bulldozer machinist, two - as drivers of excavators, 10 employees of the service were trained to be mentors and trainers and will be able to test and train newly hired drivers in the future with methods of defensive driving. Four employees were trained and certified as being responsible for release of vehicles on route. In December, the branch held its first competition of professional skills of drivers, where the participants were able not only to show their professionalism, but also share their experiences.

Specialists of the HR office of Smolenskenergo say that 2017 will also be full of training activities in various subjects. The plan of 2017 includes a thematic retraining and vocational training to meet professional standards. Particular attention will be paid to improving the skills of managers and specialists in the RTN training package - 40 people will be trained on the "Rules and regulations of work in electrical installations. Safe work related to technical maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment. Diagnostics of electrical equipment of electric power systems" and "Safe work performance on installation, commissioning, repair and operation of power lines and transformer substations". The training will focus on the RTN requirements to personnel engaged in operation of electrical equipment and electricity grids, liability for breach of legislation in the field of electrical safety regulations.
