23.12.2016

IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division held an Open Doors Day for students of specialized educational institutions of the region. It was attended by students of senior courses of Kursk State Agricultural Academy, Southwestern State University (SWSU), Kursk Electro-Technical College and Kursk Railway Technical School – a branch of Moscow State University of Railway Transport. The event was timed to coincide with the professional holiday - the Power Engineers’ Day.

Introduction of the young people to the backbone grid company of the Kursk region began at the Museum of the history of energy. Specialists of the public relations department of Kurskenergo told them about the people who stood at the origins of the region’s energy system, the role of energy in its socio-economic development. With the help of the map of electrification the students learned when the first lines and substations were constructed, what facilities are currently being upgraded.

The next point of the tour was the Grid Control Centre of Kurskenergo. This is essentially a think-tank of the enterprise, which receives all information about the state of substations and overhead power lines. The future power engineers listened with interest to the story of the head of the operations and technology service Roman Dryuchin about how the remote control of power facilities is performed, how modern technology helps operating staff in the on-line mode to monitor the work of power facilities and mobile crews, to get necessary for analysis and decision-making data.

Meeting with the leadership of the company, representatives of the region’s administration and members of the construction crew "Energetic" was held in the assembly hall of Kurskenergo. It was opened by Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division director Alexander Rudnevsky. "The choice of profession is a difficult and important step in the life of every person, and there is no best way to decide, to remove doubt, rather than to see the profession from the "inside". Today you have the opportunity to closely get acquainted with the specifics of the daily work of power engineers, ask professionals your questions. I wish you to choose the profession that will bring you not only material wealth, but also moral satisfaction," he stressed, speaking to the audience.

The head of the HR department Lyudmila Mokrousova, the head of the perspective department office Vladimir Voloshin and the head of the energy saving and energy efficiency office Alexander Pozdnyakov in detail told the students about the features of working in the energy industry, prospects of development of the distribution grid complex of Kurskenergo, working conditions in the company and social guarantees provided to employees. Then the students were demonstrated a film about IDGC of Centre, from which they learned about what contribution is made by the company to the socio-economic development of the Central Federal District, on ongoing in the regions of its service area large-scale modernization of electrical equipment, implementation of the most advanced practices in the field of energy safety and security and energy saving.

The participants of the "Open Doors Day" comradely talked with their peers, students, who joined two years ago the students’ construction crew "Energetic" and had time to work at Kurskenergo’s facilities. They regard the profession with some romance, but are well aware: homes of residents of the Kursk region have light and warmth, enterprises operate electric transport goes depending on their honest work. Their gift to the audience was the author’s song about the everyday life of power engineers.

Participants of the branch KVN team with the speaking name "Caught in the network" added humour to the serious program of the "Open Doors Day".

At the end of the event, their opinions about what they saw were shared Deputy Chairman of the Housing and Energy Committee of the Kursk region Nikolay Tretyakov: "I have noticed an interest in eyes of the young people. They vividly discussed what they saw at the Museum, the Grid Control Centre. And they asked practical questions. I think, later this meeting will affect the choice of their future profession."

Before leaving Kurskenergo the students talked with managers and employees of the company that answered all their questions.

Head of the group of students of SWSU, assistant professor of the energy chair of the University Oleg Larin expressed appreciation to all the staff of Kurskenergo for warm attitude towards the future colleagues on behalf of the guests: "For many the today’s meeting is not just familiarity with the history of the branch, it is a kind of immersion in their future profession and what they have seen here, with many having seen it for the first time, what they see when we go to a modern substation of "Kurskenergo", they will never be shown in the classroom."
