Belgorodenergo awarded winners of the regional children’s contests

IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division held an awarding ceremony of finalists of the regional contest on electrical safety and energy efficiency "Energy and Man", organized by the power company with the support of the regional department of education and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.

This year about 100 young researchers from 20 districts participated in the specialized contest for pupils interested in sciences. They defended their design work at the school level, the municipality and the region. More than thirty pupils became winners and laureates by the number of points gained.

The children were congratulated on successful projects by Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov, Head of the section for development of priorities of the regional system of education of the Education Department of the Belgorod region Elena Khomenko, Director of the Institute for Energy, Information Technology and Control Systems of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Alexander Belousov. "All the works are interesting and worthy of attention. Many surprised us with their depth, analytics and a broad evidence base. And some with further development can bring real benefits to society. A serious and thorough approach to work says that you are the very future of the Belgorod power industry, who we rely on," he stressed.

The winners in the youngest age group were first-graders from Oskol Lyceum №3 Ivan Ankudinov, Artem Brovchenko and Ivan Tomilin, who presented a specially designed layout "Magic electricity in the streets of the native city" (nomination "Project work"). The best theoretical research development, explaining the rules of energy saving at home, was presented by a pupil of the 4th grade from Grafovskaya Secondary School Kristina Bytsenko. The winner in the nomination creative was a pupil of the 3rd grade from Shebekinskaya School №5 for in-depth study of specific subjects Angelina Starchikova, who prepared a thematic video about the need to respect the rules of electrical safety in the street and at home. She demonstrated her video memo at classroom hours in primary and secondary school, and then she was able to convince the jury in the power of prevention.

Among grades of 5-8 the author of the best design work was a pupil of Belgorod Engineering Junior Lyceum Egor Donchenko, who developed a training mobile application on "Electrical Safety" for Android. By installing the software on a mobile device, you can interactively teach pupils how to behave in certain situations. Egor plans to further popularize this important topic by placing his development on Google play.

A pupil of Shebekinskaya Secondary School №5, according to the jury, was the author of the best electronic guide on electrical safety for kids and gained the lead in the "Theoretical research". "Instruction on electrical safety is sometimes boring. It will be much more interesting for kids if their favourite cartoon characters tell them about the rules," Katerina explained. "I showed my presentation to pupils in grade 2, held a small opinion poll, and now I can say with confidence that I put so much effort knowingly. I hope my development will benefit educators and primary school teachers."

Pupils of Novenskaya Secondary School in Ivnyansky district Valeria Grigorieva, Marina Dmitrieva and Yaroslav Furmanov took the challenge to create a thematic Internet portal for energy efficiency "My friend - green and safe electricity" and succeeded. The children scored maximum points in the nomination "Creative work".

Projects of high school pupils were evaluated the strictest, as they can become tomorrow prospective students of Technology University, and the best of the best will be recommended for participation in the final stage of the All-Russian contest of design works "Sirius". We considered not only the technical competence and the semantic content, but also the prospects of their chosen theme.

As a result, a pupil of grade 9 from Belgorod Lyceum №9 Saveliy Matveichuk was recognized the winner in the nomination "design work" for his vertical axis wind turbine design. Saveliy questioned the existing opinion of professionals that wind turbines are a dead end of energy development and tried to substantiate the effectiveness of the use of such systems for a single family.

A pupil of grade 10 from Belgorod Engineering Junior Lyceum Anna Semernina developed an energy-efficient lighting system for information stands, which took first place in the nomination "Research work". She presented to the strict jury the research results, the automatic control diagram, algorithm and control software, as well as recommendations for use of LED direct light lamps of 6-7 watts.

A series of leaflets titled "Tips for energy saving" of a pupil of grade 10 from Belgorod Lyceum №32 Margarita Bobrova was recognized as the best creative work. Margarita performed all the illustrations for her tutorials independently in the graphical editor, and then used them for energy efficiency and energy saving classes in the lyceum and kindergartens №7 and №10.

All the contest winners received diplomas, that will add their scores to enroll in college.

The same day the awards were given to winners of the creative contest "History of Energy of the native land - my pride", dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Belgorod power system. First place in the category "Young pathfinder" was taken by a pupil of grade 4 from School № 3 in the settlement of Chernyanka Lydia Solodovchenko, who brought together the historical facts of the dam, the remainder of which operated in the early years of electrification at Morkvinskaya HPP. In the nomination "My father – power engineer" the best projects were from a fifth-grader of Lyceum № 10 in the city of Belgorod Egor Gepalov and a ninth-grader from Bessonovskaya Secondary School Darya Starchenko. In the category "Power engineer - journalist" the winner was a pupil of grade 11 from Krasnoyaruzhsky Secondary School № 1 Rodion Bugaev, who did journalistic research on a family history, which stood at the origins of the formation and development of the electricity industry in Krasnoyaruzhsky and Rakityansky districts. All the winners were awarded with special diplomas.
