Specialists of "Lipetskenergo" held an Open Doors Day for students

Specialists of IDGC of Centre – Lipetskenergo division held an Open Doors Day for students of the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science of Lipetsk State Technical University. The meeting took place in the executive office of the Lipetsk branch of IDGC of Centre.

During the event the power engineers told the students about the main activities of the branch, its priorities and values, focusing on the benefits of working at a large power grid company.

Today "Lipetskenergo" has a status of the company with high social responsibility. "Lipetskenergo" pays much attention to ensuring a high level of corporate spirit and creation of favourable working conditions. The Company has a broad system of social support measures, not only to power engineers, their families, and those who stood at the origins of the power industry - veterans. A special place in the personnel policy is given to issues of personnel development, career counselling of a younger generation.

Having got answers to their questions about working conditions, pay, benefits and guarantees provided to the Company’s employees, the students continued their familiarity with the company in the "Lipetskenergo" museum. There they were shown documents, photographs and artifacts related to different periods of development of the enterprise, from the first steps on the electrification of the region to large-scale construction projects and sectoral reforms.

A separate item of the program was a tour to the Grid Control Centre (GCC) of "Lipetskenergo", engaged in the operational process control of grid facilities of "Lipetskenergo" at the voltage level of 35-110 kV. Deputy Chief Engineer for Operational and Technological and Situational management Andrey Arapov was a guide for the future power engineers. He told the students about how the work of such a complex mechanism as the energy system of the whole region is built, demonstrating technical capabilities of modern equipment, which has no analogues in the region. And also about the professional competence of power engineers and character qualities needed to perform critical tasks to ensure quality and reliable power supply to consumers.

Currently, such career guidance events, aimed at attracting young people interested in the power industry, are held for students of secondary specialized schools and high school pupils in all 18 Distribution Zones of "Lipetskenergo".

"Such events are very important for students’ professional self-determination. Especially, if they are held on a regular basis. Over the years of long-term cooperation of our University with IDGC of Centre, this practice has repeatedly confirmed its effectiveness. Many of our graduates now work at "Lipetskenergo, and students are active participants of the movement of students’ construction crews," said Associate Professor of the Electrical Equipment Chair of Lipetsk State Technical University, Ph.D., Director of Research and Education Centre for Power Engineering Problems and Electrical Equipment of Research Institute of LSTU Evgeniy Zatsepin.
