15.12.2016

In November - December ten decisions of the Leninsky District Court of Kursk entered into force to block Internet resources engaged in advertising and sale of magnets and modified meters allowing to distort actual readings of electric energy consumption. The decisions were made on the basis of statements of the prosecutor of the city of Kursk and the prosecutor’s office of Sudzhansky district, based on a petition of IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kursk region. According to them, 12 Internet - resources were entered into the single register of banned sites containing information, the dissemination of which is prohibited in the Russian Federation.

Specialists of the security department of "Kurskenergo" perform regular work to curb activities of legal entities and individuals engaged in distribution of goods used for distortion of metered amount of actually consumed electric energy – the so-called "modified meters". They monitor the Internet, identifying sites that distribute information violating the law.

This work is an important part of conducted activities by the power company against non-metered power consumption.

In total for 11 months of this year Kurskenergo’s experts revealed 518 facts of non-contractual and non-metered energy consumption. The total amount of stolen electricity amounted to 7.8 million kilowatt-hours (21 million rubles in monetary terms). These figures, for example, correspond to a two-month consumption of Lgovsky district of the Kursk region.

Specialists of "Kurskenergo" warn that unauthorized (non-metered) use of electricity entails both administrative and criminal liability, falling under the effect of Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing damage to property by deception or abuse of trust" (punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to five years).

The power company refers to inhabitants of the region with a request not to break the law, not to expose their life and loved people to danger. Please, report all cases of unauthorized connection to the grid in any Distribution Zone in the service area of Kurskenergo, or by calling the around-the-clock toll-free straight line of the power company at 8 800 50 50 115.
