Diagnostics of electrical equipment and power lines in the Lipetsk region

08.12.2016

During 2016, in order to timely detect defects at an early stage of their development at electric grid facilities and power lines, staff of the diagnostics service of IDGC of Centre – Lipetskenergo division performed thermal imaging control of more than 110 substations and 47 sections of overhead power lines of 35-110 kV in the Lipetsk region. This diagnostic method allows detection of local heating zones, accompanying the emergence and development of defects of electrical equipment and troubleshooting them.

Furthermore, to determine internal faults and deviations in oil-filled equipment of 35-110 kV the condition of transformer oil was checked by the method of chromatographic analysis of dissolved gases in oil. In the current year, from January to November inclusive, power engineers took 775 oil samples for quantitative analysis of dissolved gases and electrical discharges in transformer oil. As a result of findings, decisions were taken on the possibility of further operation of the diagnosed equipment.

A special place in the diagnostics, performed by the branch, was given to predictive assessment of the health of electrical equipment for a relatively long period of time. A corporate and information management system based on the SAP software helps the power engineers in this, which stores all test results, measurements and inspections for the whole period of operation of electrical equipment and power lines.

Integrated implementation of all these measures has become an integral part of the work of the power engineers to ensure reliable operation of electric grid facilities during autumn-winter peak loads.

ealed by the security unit of IDGC of Centre, are sent to law enforcement agencies, and often serve as the basis for opening criminal cases against energy thieves.
