Smolenskenergo operates on high alert mode

5 December 2016 in the Smolensk region weather conditions worsened as associated with strong winds, gusts up to 20 m/s, abundant rainfall. By the end of the day it is expected to increase in wind, the temperature lowering, snow buildup on wires and poles of overhead lines, icing of power lines, etc.

In connection with the decision of the crisis management centre of IDGC of Centre the branch "Smolenskenergo" was put on high alert operation mode. Availability and level of equipment of back-up power supply sources were checked, which if necessary would provide reserve power to consumers during first responding and restoration operations.

"At the moment, special supervision of power facilities has been set, security measures have been strengthened, interaction with territorial divisions of EMERCOM and executive authorities and other territorial power grid organizations has been organized" stressed Deputy Chief Engineer for Operational, Technological and Situational Management Sahib Bruno.

Currently, all socio-critical facilities are operating normally. If necessary emergency repair work will be carried out in a continuous mode. The Contact Centre around the clock receives calls from citizens via the single direct phone line of the power company at 8-800-50-50-115 (toll-free). If necessary, the branch will deploy a temporary information centre.
