Smolenskenergo works to reduce electric energy losses

03.11.2016

IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division continues successful implementation of the program to reduce electric energy losses in 2016. A set of measures performed by the power company on optimization of losses for 9 months of 2016 exceeded the plan and allowed to save 11.4 million kWh.

Achieving this result was made possible by a number of activities as part of the loss reduction program. In particular, overloaded and underloaded transformers with a total aggregate capacity of 4.48 MVA were replaced, 43 transformers in small load operation modes in substations with two or more transformers and 70 transformers with seasonal load were switched off. 1,429 taps of power lines entering households were replaced for self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). 67.32 km of wires of power 0.4 kV lines were replaced with a larger cross section on overloaded lines, phase loads in distribution 0.4 kV networks in the amount of 279 pieces were equalized. The work on the program of perspective development of electric power metering systems at the retail electricity market goes on, which also provides the speed and accuracy of meter readings and identification of exact amount of electricity transmitted.

The head of the section of electricity balance forecasting, power and analysis of losses of the branch Marina Bashmachenkova said: "Through a variety of measures aimed at reducing electricity losses for the 9 months of 2016 loss of electric power decreased by 10.2 million kWh (0.37%) for compared to the same period in 2015."

Raids to identify non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption also gave their positive effect. As a result of 171 raids for 9 months about 13.4 million kWh (42.6 million rubles) were returned to productive supply, and acts of non-contractual consumption were paid for 0.4 million kWh (2.6 million rubles).

Electricity losses in the grids of the branch for January - September 2016 amounted to 338.5 million kWh.
