IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division in October held its first competition of professional skills among employees of departments of electricity metering and optimization of losses of all Distribution Zones. The winner was the crew of Shumyachsky Distribution Zone. The second step of the podium was taken by the team from Vyazemsky Distribution Zone, and the crew from Safonovsky Distribution Zone closed the top three.
The finals took place on 19 October at the training centre "Lyubnya". Chief Judge of the competition was Deputy Director for Sale and Development of Services of Smolenskenergo Andrey Zhydenko. The judicial crews consisted of leaders and most experienced specialists of the electric power metering office, the occupational safety and production control office of the branch, the distribution grid office and the customer relationship management office.
The objectives of these events were evaluation and improvement of vocational training of employees of the department of electricity metering and optimization of losses of a Distribution Zone, exchange of best practices at work on instrumental test of three-phase and replacement of single-phase electricity metering devices, as well as a demonstration of skills in providing first aid to an injured.
26 teams took part in the qualifying round - one from each Distribution Zone of the branch, and four teams reached the finals - winners of the qualifying rounds. Each crew consisted of a master and an electrician operating electricity meters. Admission to the competition was made after medical examination of the teams.
The competition consisted of four stages. The first phase included the examination of knowledge of existing rules, regulations and methodical instructions. In the second phase participants competed in the proper provision of first aid to the victim by the CPR on a simulator. The third stage included a task to replace single-phase metering devices, obviously defective or found to be unsuitable for commercial calculations. During the fourth stage there was an instrumental test of three-phase electricity metering devices with direct connection.
The quality of performance of tasks, provision of the crews with uniform, protective equipment, instruments, tools and documentation, as well as the accuracy and efficiency of the algorithm of actions, the ability to correctly and competently to report on their actions during the work was assessed by the judging panel at each stage. At the end of the competition day power engineers from Shumyachsky, Safonovsky and Vyazemsky districts of the Smolensk region were recognized the best.
"At the first in the history of the branch professional skills competitions the crews of the departments of electricity metering and optimization of losses the teams showed very good results. The competition program included tasks that our experts constantly solve. The event provided an opportunity to once again draw attention to shortcomings, to exchange experience, to compete in speed and coherence," commented the head of the electricity metering office of Smolenskenergo, a senior judge of the competitions Oleg Bonadysev.
