Smolensk power engineers teach children to "make friends" with electricity

04.10.2016

Specialists of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division continue work to prevent children’s electric injuries and since the beginning of the new school year have resumed teaching schoolchildren the rules of electrical safety. In September lessons were held in a number of schools of the Smolensk region. About a thousand children got to know why they must not play near power lines, touching broken wire and penetrate into premises of substations.

The power engineers showed the children safety signs, which are posted on all power facilities and warn of the threat to life and health. The children once again were reminded that it is strictly forbidden to climb electric poles, climb roofs and attics, which are close to the mains, fish and run "kites" under wires. It is also extremely dangerous to do selfie near power facilities and use a monopod (a device for selfie) near power lines.

"We hope that after our lessons the children will remember not only the recommendations, but will strictly follow them," commented a leading expert on safety Arkadiy Sergeev.

Total for September-December 2016, 8 lessons are scheduled to be held in schools of the city of Smolensk and 38 classes in schools of the region.
