Kurskenergo’s specialists introduce students to the power engineering profession

21 September IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division held a meeting of power engineers with 20 freshmen of the Kursk electromechanical college, specializing in "Technical operation and maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment". The event was held within the framework of a professional guidance program for students of educational institutions.

In the Museum of the History of Energy the employees of the branch told the guests about the creation of the Kursk power grid, with an interactive map demonstrated the gradual electrification of settlements, showed unique documents, archival photographs and artifacts showing the power industry development, about the people who for decades provided reliable power supply of the Kursk region.

Considering the importance of promoting energy efficiency, the power engineers included in the meeting program a speech of the head of energy saving and efficiency of Kurskenergo Alexander Pozdnyakov. He told the students about the activities implemented in the branch, which for 8 months of 2016 gave the power-saving effect in the amount of 5.8 million kWh, equivalent to the annual amount of electricity consumption in a few large settlements. Alexander Poznyakov also told the students about the possibilities of reducing electricity consumption at home, using energy-saving lamps. Then he invited those wishing to check on an interactive panel their knowledge in the field of energy saving, answering quiz questions.

The students learned the activity of operating staff of the branch at the Grid Control Centre. The head of the operations and technology service of Kurskenergo Roman Dryuchin told them about the tasks operators have, providing the Grid Control Centre work around the clock, modern technologies that allow on-line to track the movement of operating crews and performance by specialists of planned work, promptly to take necessary decisions if an unscheduled situation occurs.

The meeting finished with a meaningful story of the head of the HR office Ludmila Mokrousova about the job conditions at Kurskenergo, the program of adaptation of young professionals being in place for many years, the opportunities for professional and career growth of employees, social guarantees stipulated by the collective agreement of the company.

A teacher of the Kursk electromechanical college Tatiana Maslennikova thanked the experts of Kurskenergo for the useful, information-rich meeting. "The young people are freshmen, but already think about their future place of work," stressed Tatiana. "They want not only to work in the specialty, but also to be employed in a stable company, to feel socially secure. And Kurskenergo is the best to meet these requirements."
