Unauthorized connections to the grid to be punished by the court

Stanovlyansky District Court of the Lipetsk region ruled on the case of unauthorized connection to the electric grid of IDGC of Centre – Lipetskenergo division in favour of the power company.

During a routine inspection experts of Stanovlyansky Distribution Zone discovered a fact of unauthorized connection of the household to power supply. The owner of the household did not deny that he did not have the power supply contract, and the tricky citizen wired his home himself with risk to life.

"Our inspectors drew up an act of non-contractual consumption, sent the requirement for payment, indicating a detailed calculation and payment deadline. Since citizen did not pay the amount, we were forced to go to court," says the chief of Stanovlyansky Distribution Zone Dmitry Kashin.

According to the Russian Federation Code of Administrative Offences, liability is incurred for unauthorized connection to power grids under Article 7.19. "Unauthorized connection and use of electricity, heat, oil or gas". This article assumes a fine on the person in charge, which is what happened to the owner-offender. According to the court decision, the tenant has to pay ten thousand rubles for the illegal use of resources.
