05.09.2016

Specialists of IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division performed connection to electric grids of the building of a new secondary school in the village of Zhernovets in Zolotukhinsky district of the Kursk region. Its grand opening took place on 1 September. The event was attended by Governor of the Kursk region Alexander Mikhailov and Head of Zolotukhinsky district Victor Kozhukov.

The need to build the new school on the territory of the Tazovsky village council was long overdue. Here more than 2,000 people live, including more than 300 - children of preschool and school age. The previous building was built in 1933, and in many respects it no longer met modern standards and requirements: there was no centralized water supply, no assembly and sports halls, and the dining room was in adapted premises.

The new two-storeyed school building, with an area of over 7,000 square metres, is designed for 210 seats. The school building houses spacious rooms for schoolchildren from the first to the tenth form, roomy sports and assembly halls, dining room with a catering department. The entire school area is lit. As part of the process of connection of the new facility Kurskenergo’s specialists constructed two taps with their length of 2.7 km from existing 10 kV overhead power lines and a package transformer substation with capacity of 2x160 kVA. This allowed for the supply of the requested capacity of 121 kW.

The officials present at the opening ceremony of the school, as well as teaching staff thanked the power company for the prompt implementation of the agreement of connection of the new educational institution to the grid of the power company.

"Both the schoolchildren and teachers are grateful to the power company for a reliable power supply circuit of our school, comfort and convenience we have received thanks to electricity," stressed the school director Inna Gorlatykh.

Kurskenergo makes a significant contribution to the development of social infrastructure of the Kursk region. Currently Kurskenergo is performing electricity supply of a construction site of another school, which is being built in the regional centre, in a new neighbourhood on Prospect of Victory. The main work here is to be completed at the end of this year, and the school will open its doors to schoolchildren in September 2017.
