Power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division organized for members of a students’ construction crew from among students of Lipetsk State Technical University (LSTU) a tour of the major feeding centres of the Lipetsk energy system.
The head of the substation service of "Lipetskenergo" Dmitry Butuzov told the future power engineers about the work of power facilities.
The 110 kV Substation "Bugor", being the oldest substation of the city of Lipetsk, was put into operation in 1935. In 2012 the substation was completely modernized, with the result that its capacity increased from 55 to 126 MVA. Complex reconstruction of the power facility was performed without disconnecting consumers, so it is considered to be unique with good reason.
Another substation - the 110 kV Substation "Manezhnaya" - is a highly reliable, low maintenance and eco-friendly new-generation facility. The power facility was put into operation in 2010, equipped with the latest electrical equipment, digital systems of relay protection and automation, as well as an automated process control system.
Having instructed the students on the subject of safety, Dmitry Butuzov showed the young people power equipment of the substations - transformers, installed in closed bays, 110 kV switchgear and control gear with gas-insulated equipment, the substation main control board and the relay room. The students learned about the work of the automated process control system, which allows in an "online" mode to control the substation and manage the work of all electrical equipment with modern microprocessor relay protection, the latest communication systems. The future power engineers also gained an understanding of the technical policy of the company, aimed at ensuring stable operation of electric grid facilities of the region.
"The provided opportunity to see the existing substation equipment and get acquainted with the principle of operation of modern equipment explained to me many technical nuances that up to this point I did not quite understand. So for me this event proved to be very valuable," shared his impressions a 2nd year student of the Department of Automation and Computer Science specializing in "Electrical equipment and electrical facilities of enterprises, organizations and institutions" Gennady Uvarov.
Please, be reminded that this year 12 students from Lipetsk State Technical University of courses 2 - 4 of the Department of Automation and Computer Science are working at electric grid facilities of "Lipetskenergo". During one and a half months they will practice their theoretical knowledge at work. Before starting work, all the students passed a special course on occupational safety and health, following the results of which they took the final exam and received the second group of electrical safety.
The work of students’ construction crews is organized in the framework of the cooperation development program of IDGC of Centre with leading technical universities of the country. According to the power company, work at facilities of the company will allow to increase the level of training of graduates of technical higher institutions, and thus meet the needs of IDGC of Centre for highly qualified specialists.
