26.07.2016

Staff of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division within the program to prevent electric injuries to third parties held explanatory conversations to comply with electrical safety regulations with owners of summer cottages.

Employees of the industrial safety and production control office of Smolenskenergo introduced cottagers to statistics of accidents, and once again reminded of the consequences of violating the rules of electrical safety. During the conversation Smolenskenergo’s experts talked about the fact that they need to constantly monitor the condition of wiring of their country houses, and contact, if necessary, professionals to test and check the serviceability of protection against short circuits. To avoid damaging the insulation one must not suspend electricity wires on nails, metal and wooden objects, twist wires, lay wires and cords on gas and water pipes, hang anything on wires, paint and whitewash cords and wires, pull the plug from the socket with its cord.

"I attended such a conversation about electrical safety for the first time," says Alexander Tsyganov, a member of the gardening association "Korokhotkino", located in the village of Korokhotkino near Smolensk. "The power engineers in a very accessible form, for example, spoke about the rules of safety in our suburban cottages, gave tips on electrical safety of summer houses and reminded of safety in security zones of power lines.

At the end of the conversation the power engineers gave the owners of summer cottages the memo "For residents of horticultural societies and rural settlements", in which the above electrical safety rules are described briefly.
