Orelenergo’s specialists conducted a class on electrical safety in a rehabilitation centre for minors

27.07.2016

Employees of Novoderevenkovsky Distribution Zone of Orelenergo held an electrical safety lesson in the social rehabilitation centre for minors "Azimuth" in the settlement of Mikhaylovka in the Orel region. The event was organized within the framework of the implemented program to prevent children’s electric injuries.

Children from disadvantaged families have rehabilitation in the "Azimuth" centre. Due to the lack of proper control by adults, this category of children is at risk, so knowledge of health and safety basics, including in the part dealing with electricity, is particularly necessary for them.

Orelenergo’s experts told the lesson participants about the basic rules of electrical safety, explained why they must not play near power lines and transformer substations, showed and explained the importance of warning signs, which are set at power facilities. In addition, they demonstrated them an electrician’s equipment: helmets, protective suits, insulating gloves and boots. The children watched themed cartoons and got memos that will help them consolidate their knowledge.

At the end of the lesson the organizers conducted a survey in which examined how children learned new and useful information, and responded to their questions.

>Prevention of children’s electric injuries is one of the priorities of Voronezhenergo in the field of electrical safety. The power company is engaged in this work in cooperation with local authorities. They place on sites of educational, cultural and sports institutions of the region thematic memos and videos, distribute leaflets and posters to inform about the dangers of electric shock. Voronezhenergo annually conducts among students of the region a children’s themed drawing contest, the number of participants increases every year.

Electrical safety lessons are an important component of this work. In 2015 Voronezhenergo’s specialists had more than 370 such sessions, more than five thousand children took part in them. Plans of the branch for this year are comparable to these indicators.
