08.07.2016

IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division and the General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Orel region expand cooperation in the field of prevention of children’s electric injuries. Joint holding of classes on electrical safety in kindergartens and schools has grown to a larger in scale project, called "Safety Days". Its topics cover a wide range of potentially dangerous situations falling within the competence of power engineers and rescuers, to escape which children require relevant knowledge and skills.

Since the project started in the summer holidays, for its implementation the organizers chose places of organized recreation for children and adolescents, in the first place - suburban summer camps. Plans for integrated activities were coordinated with the Department of Health and the Department of Education of the Orel region. The first "Safety Day" was held in the summer camp "Orlovchanka". Specialists of the safety service of Orelenergo and employees of the regional office of EMERCOM of Russia told children about how to behave correctly when there is a risk of electric shock, a fire, in a critical situation on the water, etc. In addition, young participants of the event learned about the features of training of rescuers and power engineers, had the opportunity to try on the uniforms of firefighters and see special vehicles.

The administration officials of "Orlovchanka" noted the relevance of the proposed subject matter of the class by the organizers. According to them, this knowledge is useful to their pupils not only during the summer holidays, but also later in life. "We were pleased that the children showed interest not only to the subject of the class, but also to the power engineering profession," stressed the head of the occupational safety and production control office Pyotr Mikolyuk.

"Safety Days" will take place in all establishments of children’s country recreation: before the start of the school year the power engineers and rescuers will conduct 20 classes.
