IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division in preparation for the autumn-winter operation period of 2016-2017 has started reconstructing electric grids in rural areas. Before the cold weather the energy company plans to upgrade 59 km of shabby grids in Uritsky, Bolkhovsky, Mtsensky, Novoderevenkovsky and Orlovsky districts of the Orel region. About 96 million rubles will be allocated for these purposes.
To date, the energy company has completed the reconstruction of 0.4 kV overhead lines in the small village of Novovolkovo in Mtsensky district and the village of Meshkovo in Uritsky district. In Novovolkovo Orelenergo’s specialists replaced 169 old wooden and defective poles for new reinforced concrete and installed more than 4.5 km of self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). In Meshkovo they replaced 80 poles and installed about 2 km of SIW. SIW has high strength, does not break under heavy loads, has a high capacity and practically eliminates any unauthorized connection to the power grid, which generally improves the quality and reliability of power supply.
The reconstruction program includes the village of Startsevo in Orlovsky district, where work is underway on a 0.4 kV line. It is scheduled to be completed in August. In addition, 10 kV dilapidated grids are being replaced in Orlovsky as well as in Uritsky districts.
Orelenergo conducts technical upgrading of power facilities and reconstruction of power lines each year, within the framework of the investment program implementation. Work plans are formed on the basis of analysis of failures at power facilities, priority is given to reconstruction of lines in the most unstable sections of electric grids. Reconstruction of the grids allows to minimize the number of technological violations related to bad weather, to eliminate cases of theft of electricity and related surges in the grid and reducing power quality.
Over the past four years Orelenergo performed reconstruction of dilapidated grids in 23 settlements located in Orlovsky, Livensky, Mtsensky, Pokrovsky, Novosilsky and Bolkhovsky districts of the Orel region. As a result of these activities the reliability of power supply significantly increased and, consequently, the number of complaints from consumers reduced.
"Given the high degree of wear of electric grids in the region, Orelenergo conducts systematic work on their modernization. Despite the difficult economic situation, the branch was able to keep in the current year the volume of investments in the upgrade of the grid infrastructure. We will endeavor to continue to pay the maximum attention to this activity," stressed Acting Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division director Igor Kolubanov.
