29.06.2016

As part of the package of measures implemented by Smolenskenergo in order to prevent cases of electric injuries to third parties, it completed unscheduled inspections of electrical installations, power lines, and other power equipment in premises and near summer children’s holiday camps, recreational and educational centres of the Smolensk region.

For a month the power company inspected electric grid facilities for compliance with the requirements of the rules of operation of electrical installations and projects developed for specific electrical installations and inspections of serviceable condition of doors, locks, fences, protective housings, grounding devices. It also checked the status of dispatcher names of all power facilities, the presence of warning signs and wall sheets, availability of mechanical locks on doors, gates and safety gates. No defects were revealed on electrical installations inspected, creating a threat to life and health.

For safety of summer camps for children in addition to the inspections of power grid facilities in and around the summer holiday camps, the energy company held in summer camps introductory lessons about the dangers of electricity. In their course children were reminded of that it is impossible to climb poles, break locks and penetrate into the transformer substation, it is not allowed to play under overhead lines and throw objects onto wires, and deadly approach the broken wire at an unacceptable distance. Smolenskenergo’s staff will perform preventive work the whole summer, covering the maximum number of children’s recreation sites. With the onset of the school year the work on the prevention of children’s electric injuries will continue in schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, colleges and boarding schools.
