01.06.2016

On the eve of the summer holidays Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre held in Demidov district of the Smolensk region a number of themed classes. A few lessons on prevention of children’s electric injuries were held at once for pupils of forms 5-7 of school №2 of the town of Demidov and forms 7-8 of Przewalski school. The initiators of this educational work were power engineers of Demidovsky Distribution Zone of Smolenskenergo.

The main purpose of the classes is formation with schoolchildren of a culture of safe handling of electrical appliances, which is especially important on the eve of summer holidays when children have a lot of free time for games and walks. The classes were conducted by Chief of Demidovsky Distribution Zone Alexander Mikhailov and Head of the operational and technological group of the Distribution Zone Alexey Kovalev.

At the lessons the children learned about why they must not throw any objects on wires, or play in the vicinity of power lines with a kite, what threatens interference with the work of switchboards in staircases, walking roofs and basements of houses, where there are wires and communications. The children once again were reminded why it is very dangerous to insert various objects into the socket outlet, touch bare wires, pull out the plug with the cord, and touch working electrical appliances.

"The activities, which we carried out, contribute to the prevention of electric injuries. We call on the leadership of schools, teachers, educators and parents more often to remind children of simple rules of electrical safety: when the child is warned about the danger of trapping him, his or her life and health is safer," commented Chief of Demidovsky Distribution Zone Alexander Mikhailov.

IDGC of Centre’s specialists meet regularly with children, bringing to them simple but very important rules of life. So, for 5 months of 2016 Smolensk power engineers have conducted more than a hundred lessons, covering about 60 schools of the Smolensk region. The educational work on electrical safety in schools will continue with the start of the school year and during the summer period the power engineers will visit several children’s holiday camps with game-playing classes.
