Smolensk power engineers taught more than a thousand schoolchildren the rules of electrical safety

27.05.2016

For five months of 2016 experts of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division conducted more than a hundred lessons in 58 schools in the Smolensk region, where they taught about 1,500 schoolchildren in electrical safety.

"Classes are held according to the approved schedule in all districts of the region, but at the request of teachers of schools the power engineers hold unplanned, extra classes," explained the head of the department of occupational health and environmental safety Alexey Gusev. "Classes are held at least in ten schools on average monthly among educational institutions of the region."

During the summer holidays lectures and thematic discussions at 16 sites are planned, including camps, schoolyard playgrounds, orphanages, and rest homes. And on 1 June, International Children’s Day, Smolensk power engineers for the first time will hold a lesson on electrical safety for preschoolers.

Prevention of children’s electric injuries is an important part of work of IDGC of Centre’s experts, however, only constant repetition of the rules of electrical safety at home and at school can stably secure the awareness of the dangers of electric current. IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division encourages parents, educators and teachers one more time to tell the children what kind of danger electricity may be, show by example how to handle electrical appliances and to behave themselves near power facilities to help avoid possible trouble.

IDGC of Centre’s experts hope that the practice of training on electrical safety could become binding on the school curriculum in the same way as the training is mandatory for all employees of organizations in accordance with applicable legal requirements for health and safety. In the meantime, the experts of the branch are ready to hold classes on electrical safety in educational institutions and children’s holiday camps of the Smolensk region. For a lesson it is enough to contact the public relations department of the branch by phone 8 (4812) 42-95-62.
