IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division conducted exercises on elimination of complex technological disturbances in electric grids at high temperatures. The event in addition to employees of the enterprise involved specialists of the General Directorate of EMERCOM in the Voronezh region, the Voronezh Regional Dispatching Office (Transmission Control Centre), representatives of the Government of the Voronezh Region and energy sales companies working in the region. The exercises were supervised by Deputy Head of the Crisis Management Centre at the Voronezh Region Government for Power Supply Security, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division director Ivan Kleymenov.
Under the scenario in the territory of a number of districts of the Voronezh region a difficult situation occurred due to increased ambient temperatures, dry weather and strong winds. With the adverse weather conditions a forest fire occurred near the settlement of Volya near the city of Voronezh, which led to outage of 110 kV power lines. As a result, according to the scenario the whole Ramonsky district and part of Novousmansky district of the Voronezh region had no electricity supply.
A first responding crew of Voronezhenergo, having arrived at the scene and found the fire, reported it to the operator, who in turn got in touch with the regional emergency department. A fire brigade was sent to the fire place. Meanwhile, the power engineers performed all necessary switching of substations providing power to consumers with a backup circuit.
Employees of a line crew of the Voronezh branch of IDGC of Centre met the fire brigade at the appointed place, escorted to the fire place, provided all conditions for safe operation of the fire fighters - conditionally checked for voltage on the line, set the ground, additionally instructed the firefighters about the peculiarities of fighting fires in the protected zones of power lines. The deployment of the necessary equipment and the conditional fire extinguishing passed within the established standard timeframes.
"Clear and coordinated actions of the branch employees during the exercises allowed to eliminate the fire and restore the interrupted power supply. The main objective of the event was achieved - the power company together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations consolidated the practical skills as well as worked out the pattern of interaction with complex technological disturbances in power grids," stressed, commenting on the results of the exercises, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division director Ivan Kleymenov.
