Orelenergo successfully completed the autumn-winter operation period

20.04.2016

IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division summed up the work during the autumn-winter operation period of 2015-2016 (AWP). In the months of maximum loads the enterprise’s specialists provided reliable power supply to consumers, the power system operated steadily. The number of outages decreased by 30% compared to the same period last year. This was made possible thanks to the successful implementation of repair and investment programs. The greatest rate of decline was noted in Livensky and Mtsensky districts.

The reliable power supply to consumers of Orelenergo in the autumn-winter period was provided by 64 repair and maintenance crews and 67 special vehicles, which were completely ready to eliminate failures at energy facilities.

Orelenergo had special control over reliability of energy supply in Orel district, as technological violations there happened very often in the past. As a result of this autumn-winter period their number decreased by 5%. In order to further improve the quality of power supply to consumers in the district the branch decided to spend there most of the funds of the repair program in 2017 to improve the technical condition of electrical grids.

During cold and bad weather the power engineers repeatedly had a chance to demonstrate their best professional quality. One of the first serious failures in the course of the autumn-winter operation period of 2015-2016 happened right before the New Year in Livensky and Pokrovsky districts. Because of the bitter cold and gusty wind wire breakage occurred, and on the eve of the holiday about 13 thousand customers had no electricity. Thanks to coordinated actions of the dispatching and operating staff the power supply was restored for two hours, with providing power to consumers from an emergency line. As a result, residents of the districts were able to celebrate New Year in a comfortable environment. In order to avoid repetition of the emergency the power company immediately began to repair the damaged line. Because of the difficult weather conditions the work was completed only in the morning. As a result, employees of first responding and restoration crews of Orelenergo did not celebrate the holiday with their families, but provided reliable power supply to consumers.

"The company’s team made every effort to ensure reliable power supply to consumers and reduce the failure rate at electric grid facilities of the region in the period of maximum loads. The key to this was the unconditional fulfillment of the repair and investment programs. This work will continue in preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2016-2017," stressed Acting Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division director Igor Kolubanov.
